Assessment And Promotion Policy


Pre-Primary Classes

 

Students of the pre-primary classes will have two assessments in a year –

Mid Term Assessment and an Annual Assessment. These assessments are done to understand the learning level of the child which will be helpful in determining the future course of action.

ANNUAL ASSESSMENT

 

Grades I-XII

 

Scholastic Domain-

 

1. The academic year is divided in two terms i.e. First Term (April- September / October) and Second Term (October - March).

2. The students of Classes I to VIII will be assessed regularly for the purpose of gradient learning through four Periodic Tests and two Term End Examinations.

TERM 1 = PT1, PT2 & Half Yearly Examination

TERM 2 = PT3, PT4 & Annual Examination.

3. The students will be awarded marks and grades for scholastic subjects. Grading of scholastic subjects will be on a nine point grading scale (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D, E1, E2) whereas Co-Scholastic grading will be on a three point scale (A, B, C).

4. Promotion to the next class is based on the whole years performance i.e. progress achieved during Periodic test (Best of 1 / 2 and 3 / 4), Half yearly and Annual examinations.

5. For classes VI - VIII, Promotion to the next class will be granted only if the student scores at least 33% marks in each Scholastic subject individually.

6. 80% attendance throughout the session is mandatory for a student to be eligible to appear in the Final Examination.

7. If a student is absent on the day of the test / exam due to medical reasons, a written application supported by a medical certificate must be submitted at the earliest and the school must be informed telephonically.

8. No leave will be permitted on the day prior to the test / exam under any circumstance. For such absentees, marks will be marked as 0.

Term End Exam

(For Grades 3 – 8)

(Half Yearly & Annual Exam)

(English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Maths, Science & Social Studies)

a) Pen Paper Test : 80 Marks

b) Period Test : 10 Marks

(Best of the 2 Period Tests converted to 10)

c) Subject Enrichment Activities : 05 Marks

d) Notebook Assessment : 05 Marks

Grade IX

As per CBSE guidelines

Coverage of Syllabus-

1.    The syllabus of periodic assessment shall cover the portion covered in the respective assessment.

2.    The coverage of syllabus for Half Yearly and Yearly examination are as follows:

Co-Scholastic Domain-

 

 

 

The Co- scholastic activities which includes (Work Education, Art Education, Health & Physical Education) will be graded on a 3 Point scale (A, B, C) and will have no descriptive indicators. Apart from above activities, the students will be assessed and graded by the teacher in Discipline (Attendance, Sincerity, Behaviour and values) as well.
